TypeCampus has compiled a list of scholarships available in the industry for students of type design and typography
TDC Scholarships
The Type Directors Club, the world’s leading typography organization, has offers three student scholarship programs:
Adé Hogue Scholarship, sponsored by Monotype, in cooperation with the Broderick Adé Hogue Foundation. Beatrice Warde Scholarship, also sponsored by Monotype. TDC Ezhishin Scholarship, sponsored by Google, is new this year, initiated by TDC managing director Ksenya Samarskaya.

Gerard Unger Scholarship | Typetogether
Each year TypeTogether holds an open call for submissions to the Gerard Unger Scholarship, a mentorship programme for promising type designers and their designs. Winners get to finish their typeface with the support of the entire TypeTogether team, receive a stipend, and learn all about typeface publishing as they release their font family.
Type Electives | Co-founded by Lynne Yun & Juan
Type Electives offers courses that go beyond traditional type design education offering a wide range of live online classes focused on letterforms, including type design, lettering, and creative technology. They offer scholarships open to all Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, with priority given to those who have limited resources or access to educational opportunities.
The Malee Scholarship | By Sharp Type
The Malee Scholarship has a mission to advance and empower women who are part of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in the type design field. This partnership provides financial assistance, creative mentorship, and professional guidance to support a new generation of designers.
